RIDE FOR RIDERS
Supporting the Event Rider's Benevolent Fund

Our fundraising clinic invites top Canadian coaches from all disciplines to volunteer their day to teach riders at all levels. The proceeds from this fun-filled clinic are credited to the
Event Riders Benevolent Fund to assist injured or disadvantaged Athletes of the Sport.

On August 4th, Eventing Canada [!] is pleased to host a Ride for Riders day at its Training Centre in Tottenham. The proceeds will benefit The Event Riders' Benevolent Fund . All three disciplines will be offered, but due to space restrictions participants will be limited to the first 50 people who enter.

It is with regret that we announce the cancellation of the August 4th Ride for Riders Day

Over 100 enthusiastic Eventers convened in Hawkestone on Saturday 31 August for one of the Sports' most popular "events", RIDE FOR RIDERS 2004.  Fear of a washout as a result of torrential rain in the GTA, Hawkestone was blessed with glorious sun and exceptional coaching opportunities.

With our Olympic Team Athletes sequestered in Training Camp, the best and brightest of Ontario's Coaches rose to the occasion to teach the weather defiant attendees in all three disciplines of dressage, cross country and stadium jumping.

Glen Oro and Grandview Farms in Hawkestone, ON generously hosted the one day marathon of mounted educational sessions organized by the Directors and Volunteers of Eventing Canada[!]

Riders and clinicians from across the province converged at the adjacent farms in Hawkestone.  Perfect weather conditions and unbridled enthusiasm from all participants ensured a most positive educational experience.

When the last fence was jumped and the last halt at " X " complete, over $4,500.00, was raised to support the Event Riders' Benevolent Fund.  This Fund was established some seven years ago to provide financial assistance to injured or disadvantaged Athletes in the Sport of Horse Trials in Canada.

Special thanks to the talented coaches who so generously donated their time to introduce / tune up so many Eventing enthusiasts, young & old, to the Sport of Horse Trials and Three Day Event.

These clinicians included: MARGARET GODSON, RYAN GOSS, LINDA HASMATALI, BOB HOLMAN, TERRI HOUGH,  MH LESSARD, ANITA NEMTIN-GILMOUR, ANDREW POCOCK, ALEX REINFELS, SARAH ROBERTS, STEPHANIE ST. PIERRE, KARL SLEZAK,  ARTHUR TATEISHI, FRAN WARWICK, MEGAN WHITE and ANNE ZANDER.

Since its inception, the Event Rider's Benevolent Fund has contributed to the recovery and rehabilitation of over 12 Riders, all of whom have fortunately recovered from their respective injury and have returned to the Sport.

Special thanks to Sarah Irving and Bob Holman of Grandview Farm and Leslie Saila of Glen Oro Farm, who so generously donated their beautiful facilities for the event.
