Heather WellmanYoung Eventing Athletes eligible for the Heather Wellman Youth Bursary

The Directors of Eventing Canada [!] are pleased to announce a bursary for Canada's young riders.   Eventing Canada [!] will award one  bursary of at least $1000.  to an aspiring young Athlete who participates in the Olympic discipline of Three Day Event and Horse Trials.

"It was Heather's wish that the money which her many  friends donated to Eventing Canada [!], be directed to the formation of a bursary supporting a young athlete who participated in the Sport of Horse Trials and Three Day Event,"said Arthur Tateishi, Chair of Eventing Canada [!].   Heather  believed that all young equestrians should be able to  pursue their dreams.  We hope that  this bursary in our dear friend's name will provide an additional opportunity for a young eventer to learn, care for, and compete with his or her equine partner to further their equestrian goals," Tateishi confirmed.

Bursary applicants will be assessed on financial need, equestrian experience and equestrian goals.

Applicants may be from 14 to 21 years of age (as of 01 January 2004).

The deadline for 2004 applicatrions was April 1. The applications received are now being reviewed, and news of recipients will be published here shortly
