EVENT RIDERS BENEVOLENT FUND RICHER BY ANOTHER $4500.00
Over 80 enthusiastic Eventers convened in Hawkestone on Saturday 28 June for one of the Sports' most popular "events", RIDE FOR RIDERS 2003.With Olympic, World Equestrian and Pan American
Athletes as clinicians, the eager participants had an excellent opportunity to learn from the best teachers in the Country. Glen Oro and Grandview Farms in Hawkestone, ON
generously hosted the one day marathon of mounted educational sessions organized by the Directors and Volunteers of Eventing Canada[!]
Over 80 Riders and 17 clinicians from across the province converged at the adjacent farms in
Hawkestone. Perfect weather conditions and unbridled enthusiasm from all participants ensured a most positive educational experience, as all three disciplines of Dressage, Cross Country and Stadium Jumping were
conducted at Glen Oro and Grandview Farms.
When the last fence was jumped and the last halt at X complete, over $4,500.00, was raised to support the Event Riders' Benevolent Fund
. This Fund was established some six years ago to provide financial assistance to injured or disadvantaged Athletes in the Sport of Horse Trials in Canada.
Special thanks to the talented coaches who so
generously donated their time to introduce / tune up so many Eventing enthusiasts, young & old, to the Sport of Horse Trials and Three Day Event. These clinicians included:
KAREN BRAIN, MARGARET GODSON, LINDA HASMATALI, BOB HOLMAN, SARAH IRVING, MH LESSARD, LINDSAY MAHON, ANITA NEMTIN, KELLY PLITZ, ALEX REINFELS,
GARRY ROQUE, PENNY ROWLAND, STEPHANIE ST. PIERRE, LESLIE SAILA and FRAN WARWICK. Since its inception, the Event Rider's Benevolent Fund has contributed to the recovery and rehabilitation of over 12 Riders,
all of whom have fortunately recovered from their respective injury and have returned to the Sport.Previous ERBF recipients, KAREN BRAIN and LESLIE SAILA
were on hand to teach throughout the day. Special thanks to Sarah Irving and Bob Holman of Grandview Farm and Leslie Saila of Glen Oro
Farm, who so generously donated their beautiful facilities for the event. Comments from the 2003 Ride for Riders
