Eventing Canada [!] Helps BC Three Day Event Rider Karen BrainKaren Brain, a well known Three Day Event Rider from
British Columbia who now makes her home in London, Ontario, was seriously injured September 18, 2001 while schooling her young horse, Miko, at London Equestrian Centre, an eventing facility in London, Ontario.
In May, 2002 we received this note from Karen: "Dear Eventing Canada[!], Hello, how is everyone? Getting ready for the spring
season I'm sure! I can't believe it's May already, my how time flies by! But I guess as I look back on my past 7 months, I can honestly say it's been the most "productive" (in a healing sense) and well used.
Despite my accident, I fell I've made some positive forward steps towards where I want to go, and as my body continues to heal at a remarkable pace, I know I've not lost too much time.
So all has not been wasted! I want to thank Eventing Canada[!] for their most recent generous donation of $1000 to my situation! Once again I am very grateful
for your amazing support. Your donations have greatly helped with my expenses over the past 7 months, and I can't express how appreciative I am! I look forward to giving something back to
Eventing Canada[!] by teaching at your Fund Raising Clinic June 30th. I would be honoured to help build the very fund that has supported me through my accident. As I become stronger and more
functioning, I enjoy getting back out in the horsey community. It will be very therapeutic for me both physically and mentally! Thank you again for thinking of me, and being a part of my support team through this traumatic
event! Learning just how much people have been there for me, and supported me, has definitely been the silver lining to this "grey cloud" event! With all my love and gratitude always, Karen Brain"
Back in April, 2002 Karen reported she was able to get around well enough to teach clinics and has very kindly offered to donate her services to Ride for Riders on June 30, 2002 to help raise money for the Event Rider's Benevolent Fund
. For an update from Karen on her recovery,
