"imagine (!) 2005"
11th consecutive event!
Over 130 enthusiastic supporters of the Sport of Eventing turned up at the Monora Community Centre in Orangeville, ON, on the Victoria Day weekend for the annual fundraiser event Imagine (!). The evening proved to be a great kick-start to the eventing season, with numerous show entries and horse paraphernalia up for silent
auction. For the non-horsey set there was house ware, people ware, sporting events, and nights away to bid on.Don Good and Arthur Tateishi once again hosted the Live Auction,
which hosted items such as celebrity signed equine treasures, equine portraits, days on movie sets, and nights in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The bidding was fierce over a custom x-country saddle, generously donated
by SCHLEESE SADDLERY, with ARTHUR TATEISHI being the successful bidder. A special thank you to KARL SLEZAK, who again this year provided a
unique fundraising opportunity. With the goal of $3000 raised, thanks primarily to AL SHINTON, and DON GOOD, Karl subjected his long, curly golden locks to the clippers.
The evening's activities also included the award of the coveted Heather Wellman Youth Bursary to DENISE LUKACS. This annual award is prevented in honour of one of Eventing Canada [!]'s founding directors
whose passion and dedication to the Sport of Horse Trials and Three Day Event were unparallel. Mrs. Wellman died in July 2002. It was her wish that a deserving young rider, who shared in her passion for the
Sport, would receive both public and financial recognition. Eventing Canada [!] would like to thank the donors, the volunteers, and in particular the participants for helping us raise over $16,000 to
support our sport in 2005. E
