On the first day, riders concentrated on understanding the ingredients of good jumping technique. This was brought about by Jimmy's excellent technical descriptions, practice, and lots of discussion.

On day two riders were privileged to gallop the vast array of Cross county obstacles at the Dreamcrest facility under tutelage of James Wofford. Jim opened up with galloping position working towards a stable and quiet 2-point position and moved on to regulating speed within this position. Starting with low cross-country jumps for all levels, riders focused on the regularity of the stride. Uphill and downhill approaches were then introduced and jumping maintaining the specific speed of each division.

Most of the XC jumping took place in the "short course" bowl just below the ring, which has banks, ditches and a small water jump. The Preliminary and Intermediate groups had the opportunity to test the HUGE steps @ the back of the course, where the more testing (read "larger & more technical") obstacles are located. Cross-country day ended with a refreshing dip into the water complex.

All the people at Dreamcrest (Kelly Plitz, Ian & Waylon Roberts, Doug & Carol Plitz) were exceptionally supportive and deserve a special thanks for allowing us to invade their lovely facility.

Several enthusiastic spectators enjoyed learning what makes a good cross country ride.
