This year at Imagine, Amanda Beard was awarded the Heather Wellman Bursary.HEATHER WELLMAN YOUTH BURSARY AWARDED @ "imagine (!) 2003"

April 12, 2003 saw over 100 enthusiasts of the Sport of Horse Trials and Three Day Event gather to attend for what has become an anticipated Spring tradition --- " imagine (!) 2003".

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, "imagine (!) 2003" was held at the King Community Centre, King City, ON, in the heart of horse country.  The entertaining evening offered a silent auction for eclectic items, exceptional food, an affordable bar and an opportunity to socialize with friends in advance of the competition season.

The Heather Wellman Bursary was awarded during the evening's activities.  "It was Heather's wish that the money which her many  friends donated to Eventing Canada [!], in lieu of flowers, be directed to the formation of a bursary supporting a young athlete who participated in the Sport of Horse Trials and Three Day Event." Said Arthur Tateishi, Chair of Eventing Canada [!].    Heather  believed that all young equestrians should be able to  pursue their dreams.  We hope that  this bursary in our dear friend's name will provide an additional opportunity for a young eventer to learn, care for, and compete with his or her equine partner to further their equestrian goals," Tateishi confirmed.

Bursary applicants were assessed on financial need, equestrian experience and equestrian goals, and awarded to an aspiring young Athlete who participates in the Olympic discipline of Three Day Event and Horse Trials. For 2003, the recipient of the $1000. bursary was Amanda Beard of Orillia, ON.

Eventing Canada [!] Directors were also pleased to award an additional $1,000 Youth Bursary [!] to Ursula Selby of Grand Valley, ON.

The silent auction was the largest ever.  There were several opportunities for XC schooling, clinics, lessons and competition entries to spark plans for another season of our dynamic and thrilling sport. There was a huge variety of horsey-equipment to help us replenish our tack rooms, including 3 saddles, and much, much more…. from peoplewear, to horsewear, from ornaments to appliances they came, they bid, they enjoyed.

Eventing Canada[!] thanks the donors, the volunteers, the catering crew, and, especially, the  participants.  By the time the, enthusiastic bidders departed from the centre, Eventing Canada (!) 's volunteers tallied over $11,000. 00 to support the Athletes and Competitions of the Sport

Eventing Canada [!] is an amateur athletic association, and  is an independent supporter of  the Olympic Sport of Three Day Event and Horse Trials in Canada.  Eventing Canada [!] conducts equestrian clinics with international trainers, which include Lucinda Green, James Wofford and Patricia Burgess in 2003

The Association also organizes Ride for Riders , a fundraising clinic inviting top Canadian coaches from all disciplines to volunteer their day to teach Riders at all levels.  The proceeds from this fun-filled clinic are credited to The Event Riders Benevolent Fund to assist injured or disadvantaged Athletes of the Sport.  This year, Ride for Riders will be hosted by Glen Oro Farm and Grandview Farms in Hawkestone, ON on 28 June 2003.
